Week 2 Activities
Our bodies are our gardens and like the popular saying health is wealth, this week we will be creating awareness and sensitizing Nigerians on the danger of not knowing their Rhesus factor status.
The Rhesus factor is a protein that can be found on the surface of red blood cells. If your blood cells have this protein, you are Rh positive. If your blood cells do not have this protein, you are Rh negative. Thus, there is a need to know your status, especially for pregnant women.
During pregnancy, problems can occur if you are Rh negative and your fetus is Rh positive. When a woman is Rh negative and her fetus is Rh positive, it is called Rh incompatibility.
To this effect, free blood test kits and anti-D immunoglobulin injections (Rhogam) will be donated to the hospital for affected mothers.
As we continue to show you that we care, we hope this strengthens our relationship with you.
